President's Message

In America, we believe in peace through strength, and that's what we will have. - Donald J. Trump

The elephant in the room is all about Friday at the White House. How can one not keep thinking about the disrespect shown our president on Friday. It was appalling that a visiting dignitary, a guest to the White House, the president of a nation, with a mutual agreement in hand between the United States and Ukraine would then choose to use that time in front of the press to litigate changes without even giving this administration forewarning. Such lack of decorum by Zelenskyy showed his desperation but was a poor choice of time and place for further dialogue. All he had to do is look up at his Ambassador to the United States and see her head in her hands that he made the wrong move. Such discussion should have taken place in private but Zelenskyy chose to play otherwise thinking he could be the power broker with the press in attendance. There was good reason to have shut the presser down immediately however President Trump's remarks to the Ukrainian president showed his public commitment to Peace and sanctity of lives that he is not a warmonger that legacy media likes to portray him. Long story, short, our president summed it up "He can come back when he is ready for Peace."

Moving on, March is the time we march to support candidate, John McCann, for San Diego County Supervisor, District 1. If you do not like the direction our county has taken (and we dont) then we need to do all we can to elect him. His election gives Republicans a majority. It is the only way we can change the direction of our county. McCann will be speaking at our March 10th meeting. Announcements of how to help are being disseminated by your clubs and our call-to-action emails. Help in any way you can. Also, read Suzanne Santos' interview with Paula Whitsell (below) with ways you can help our candidates too.

Monday, March 10, is our first business meeting of 2025 after having our successful annual January Leadership Training Workshop and our fun sold-out February 100th Anniversary of San Diego Republican Women Celebration. For March 10 reserve your spot this weekend! See details below and at our website: https://rwcsdc.org where you can make your reservation.

I look forward to seeing you on the 10th.

God Bless America, God Bless #47 President Donald J. Trump, and prayers for God's guidance and blessings for our country's leaders.

Interview of Paula Whitsell, Chair of San Diego GOP

Suzanne: There was an article in the Times of San Diego that said you were going to resign in six months. Is this true?

Paula: No, I was elected for 2 years and plan to serve my entire term. I also agreed to performance review in 6 months to assess if we are meeting our goals and see what changes are needed to be made. We have a strong leadership team and they are getting the experience and knowledge that they will need to have to create a deep bench for the party leadership. This is a change that I am instigating which is pushing the decision making out more to the grassroots and involving more members.

Suzanne: What volunteer help do you see RWCSDC being able to contribute in up coming election cycle ?

Paula:
* First off, join a Donor Club. There are 4 different levels just go online and fill out the form.
* We always need your help with mailing projects and making phone calls.
* We are no longer going to use i360 program for contacting voters We are going back to the old fashion paper walk books that most of our volunteers have requested. No learning curve!
* Our headquarters is moving. We will be opening our new office in Coronado in March. We are pleased to announce that one of our donors has been gracious and offered a reduced rent for the office space.

*Our current need is working for John McCann who is running in the special election for County Board of Supervisors District 1.
*The primary is in April and this race will touch everyone in the county.
*This will tip the make up of the board of Supervisors either Republican or Democrat. *We are getting help from all over the county but can always use more.
*Since we are in the midst of moving HQ contacting John McCann's campaign directly is best. McCann's office is on Bonita Road off the 805.

Suzanne: What changes do you see in the future of SDGOP?

Paula: More grassroots involvement. We are pushing the decision making down to the caucus level. This will be reflected in the new bylaws that we are adopting. This means we need more input and help from caucuses on candidate recruitment and support. We really want each of you to attend your caucus meeting as it is in you neighborhood and will give you opportunity dialog with us.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Next caucus meetings: See https://www.sandiegorepublicans.org/events to find your area's date, location, and time. Scroll down the website page for your location.
